Infrared thermography may sound like a big term to you. But if you look at its varied application base, then you will be amazed. The main application of thermographic cameras is, they detect the radiation in the infrared range of the specific electromagnetic spectrum and then produce images of that particular radiation.
In simple terms, it catches images of all the objects which emit radiation. Amount of radiation emitted by an object increases with the increase in temperature. Thermography allows one to detect variations in the temperature.
In normal conditions humans are categorized as warm blooded animals whereas snakes are categorized as cold blooded animals, so one can immediately recognize the difference between these two animals with the help of thermography. Most of the digital thermographic cameras do not record the video output as in most cases it is not that important, but if required one can attach it to the main accessory any time.
These digital thermographic cameras are much more expensive than their counterparts i.e. visible spectrum cameras. But one should not completely rely on this method to determine the exact temperature of any body, because it does not give accurate results when it comes to temperature measurements. But on contrary this becomes an excellent tool in order to find out any type of flaws in electrical as well as mechanical system. Electrical system can be scanned with the help of this camera and then problem can be diagnosed. Thermographic camera is also used in the area of energy saving field. With all these applications it is essential that one should have enough knowledge about this technology so that newer and newer applications of this technology can be found out.
